Not sure where the times goes... Amsterdam has meant late nights for us and not very conducive to blogging. We've really enjoyed our time here; it's a great city, lots to see and do.
Tuesday, still recovering from all the walking on Monday, we opted for a sightseeing tour via bus, which included a diamond factory tour. Very interesting but Denis wouldn't let me buy the $310,000 necklace I wanted. After the bus tour we took the canal tour which was even better and offered a ton of photo ops. The canals are what make Amsterdam so unique and engaging. Oh yes, Denis insisted we visit the Sex Museum! I'm pretty sure Amsterdam is the only city with a museum like this. :)
Tuesday night we met Sherry's friend Donna and her friend Karin for dinner at lovely restaurant, Theeboom, http://www.theeboom.com/index.php/en/information. What a great night. The food was excellent and the company even better! I think we were at the restaurant for almost four hours, enjoying a 3 course meal and lots of good conversation. I'd have to say it was one the best meals I've ever had! Donna and Karin, despite it being a work night for them, accompanied us to a night club that was on Denis' list, Bourbon Street. Good thing or we'd never have found the place. Although Amsterdam is not that big it's quite confusing to find your way around. The girls stayed for a drink then headed home on their bikes. Denis and I manged to find our way back to the hotel an hour or so later and saw some more of the Red light district on the way. The ladies looked a better than the ones we'd seen the night before.
Wednesday we had thought we'd head out of the city to the sea but the weather wasn't on our side so we rented bikes in Amsterdam and cycled the city for about 4 hours. This is a great way to experience Amsterdam and bicycles definitely rule here. The city infrastructure is well set up for bikes and it's how most people get around. We really enjoyed ourselves and the rain held off all day. (although we both had sore bums after all that bike riding!) We found a great market where we bought a few things including some local cheese for the train ride to Berlin.
